Access & heritage

Access Australia (AA) access and heritage programs include assessments of all University of Sydney Campus areas and built environments, and Sydney Town Hall.

The University and Town Hall programs provide site assessments and prioritised access upgrade programs including entrances, signage and pedestrian paths of travel.

 

Commercial

 

AA provides access consultancy assessments and strategies for major retail and commercial projects and shopping centres across Australia.

Projects include AMP and Westfield Shopping Centres in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, together with access tenancy assessments and guidelines including Sydney International Airport.

 

Councils

 

AA provides assessments and strategies for local government, and NSW Land & Environment Court reports and evidence.

Sydney Region local government access programs include The City of Sydney and Waverley, Willoughby, Canada Bay, Hornsby, Penrith and Manly Councils.

 

Fixtures & fittings

 

AA extensive involvement with Standards Australia has resulted in access assessments for a range of fixtures and fittings to meet compliance with the AS1428 suite of standards.

Assessments include a new range of Telstra phones and a range of accessible tapware.

 

Government

 

 

AA programs include studies, strategies and recommendations for Federal and State government including access legislation and built environment reviews.

Recent access programs include review of Australian Government accessibility guidelines and access assessments and recommendations for Sydney Ferries.

 

International

 

AA directors involvement with the CRPD and RI Global provides opportunities for international access programs.

In conjunction with the RI network, AA programs include comprehensive access legislation reviews, strategies, recommendations and assessments in Qatar, Kuwait and Hong Kong.

 

Sports, recreation and outdoor spaces

 

AA experience includes access strategies, workshops and programs for Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games public domains, and access consultants for the Olympic Village.

Outdoor access programs include state and local government access assessments and recommendations related to ferry terminals, parks and amphitheatres.

 

Residential & Schools

 

AA residential experience includes access site assessments, plan reviews, recommendations and reports including adaptable units and Residential Aged Care Facilities throughout NSW.

AA provides access assessments for new and existing school campus areas, buildings and facilities.

 

Theatres & Performing Arts Centres

 

AA experience includes access planning and design programs to provide equitable and accessible theatres and performing arts centres, including stage access.

Projects include the Sydney Opera House, Roslyn Packer Theatre at Walsh Bay and the Seymour Centre at the University of Sydney.

 

Planning & Design

National and international consultations include programs with governments and organisations regarding access guidelines, policies and legislation. AA directors involvement with access legislation and Standards Australia includes initiation and evolution of the AS 1428 suite of standards and active involvement in the drafting, resolution and adoption of the CRPD.

Access policies and programs for state and local governments include DDA Action Plans and strategies for University of Technology Sydney and University of New England; Shoalhaven, Blacktown and Liverpool NSW local government areas; Telstra, Olympic Coordination Authority and the Sydney Opera House.

Transport and public domain programs include Sydney ferries, low floor buses, Olympic Roads & Transport Authority (ORTA) rail access program, RMS wharf access program, Sydney 2000 Olympic & Paralympic Games public domain and local government streetscapes.

Access assessments, reports and recommendations for government and statutory authorities include University of Western Sydney, University of Sydney, UTS, NSW Department of Commerce, City of Sydney, and Blacktown, Fairfield, Great Lakes, Liverpool, North Sydney, Penrith, Pittwater, Shoalhaven, Sutherland and Waverley Councils.
