January 2009 – On behalf of RI, Michael Fox managed a research and workshop program in Doha, resulting in completion of the Qatar Access Strategy, harmonised with the CRPD.

June 2009 – Access Australia engaged by UWS (University of Western Sydney) to carry out a comprehensive access program in relation to the six UWS campuses between Campbelltown and Richmond.

June 2009 – Michael Fox participated in a UN visit to Gaza, sponsored by the Government of Qatar – to assess the situation in relation to the impact of armed conflict on persons with a disability and opportunities for accessible reconstruction.

June 2009 – Access Australia engaged as access consultants for a range of southern NSW housing projects as part of the Federal Government Stimulus Program.

October 2009 - Professor Ron McCallum AO, Professor of Industrial Law, University of Sydney elected 2010 Chair of the UN CRPD Committee.

November 2009 – Shirley White, RI Australia National Secretary, and Michael Fox attend CRPD Shadow Report consultations in Sydney.

3 December 2009 – Michael Fox keynote speaker at Great Lakes Council International Day of Persons with Disabilities event.

December 2009 – Michael Fox elected a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) – with presentation by PIA President at the annual Sidney Luker function.

January 2010 – Michael Fox represents RI at International Disability Alliance (IDA) CRPD Shadow Report meetings in Geneva.

March 2010 – RI India and World Bank Conferences in Delhi and Hyderabad regarding inclusive and holistic educational and community based rehabilitation programs in the South East Asia Region. RI Global representatives included President Anne Hawker, Secretary General Venus Ilagan and Michael Fox. Refer www.riglobal.org

March 2010 – On 15 March the Australian Government launched the DDA Standards for Access to Premises (APS). The intent of the Standards is to provide national consistency between the DDA and BCA. The APS will commence on 1 May 2011.
