The directors
of Access Australia provide over 25 years of Australian and international
access advocacy, legislation, planning and design experience.
Director Michael Fox is actively involved in access related international
programs through RI
and including the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities (CRPD).
Major projects range from the Sydney 2000 Olympic
& Paralympic Games and numerous local government access programs
– to current residential, retail and commercial projects
for a wide range of architects, developers and government agencies.
Access Australia (AA) programs and reports provide
a holistic approach based on the process of access and AA programs
relate to the BCA, relevant Australian Standards, including the
AS1428 suite, and applicable local authority access requirements.
AA reports and recommendations also relate to draft
changes to the BCA in response to the ABCB (Australian Building
Codes Board) draft DDA Access to Premises Standard (APS). AA is
involved in the APS hearings and the intent of the APS is to progressively
harmonise BCA access provisions with the complaints based DDA.
